New Game Experiences: The Secret of Monkey Island

The Secret of Monkey Island is another one of those games which was first released a long time ago – over 25 years, and that’s a lot in terms of computer games! I’d casually heard it mentioned a couple of times, but didn’t know much of anything about it. Still, it seemed like it might be worth a try, so last year I finally purchased it from GOG, and actually got around to playing it for the first time a couple of months ago. (Yes, a couple of months, I’m behind.)

And to clarify, I played the Special Edition rerelease from a bit more recently. The core game is the same, but the Special Edition includes updated graphics, sound, and interface. It also includes an option to play with the original display, a typical LucasArts interface of the early ’90s, but I personally preferred the updated version (although it made Guybrush’s hair look terrible). Your mileage may vary.
